Eloise Anderson Bateman

Eloise Anderson Bateman, 92, of Maumelle, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was born January 21, 1922, in Woodlawn, Arkansas, to John Ray and Mary Allan Wooley Anderson, who preceded her in death. She was married to Van Bateman, Jr. on November 9, 1940, and he preceded her in death in 1983. Survivors include a son, Van C. Bateman III and wife Pat of Little Rock; daughter, Angelia Hadden of Maumelle; three grandchildren, Deana Bateman Bailey of White Hall, Leslie Wells Casey and husband Jack of Naylor, and Alison Wells Johnson and husband Eric of Navarre, Florida; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Jacobson of Maumelle, Jacqueline Jacobson of Navarre, Florida, Ben Casey of Naylor and Alex and Drake Bailey of White Hall. All of Eloise's grandchildren lovingly referred to her as "Wese". She was a long-time resident of White Hall. Until her death, Eloise was the longest living member of Lee Memorial Baptist Church/First Baptist Church of White Hall, having been a member for 81 years. She taught many young people's Sunday School and Training Union Classes, lead youth groups, GA's, and was the church pianist for many years. She graduated second in her class from White Hall High School in 1939. Eloise held several jobs in sales, but decided to continue her education later in life. Already having two grandchildren, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education on May 21, 1972, and taught 3rd grade at Taylor Elementary School in White Hall for 15 years. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Arkansas. She held many local and state positions in the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW. With her many accomplishments, Eloise is best remembered by all as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Dr. Bob Harper and Reverend Paul Williams officiating.
