Phillip M. Davis, 72, of Tull, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014. He was born in Tull on September 5, 1941 and is the son of the late Walton and Belva Davis of Tull. Phil is a graduate of Henderson State Teacher's College with a degree in Psychology. He worked in the area of Human Resources and Strategic Planning for Sperry Remington and Owatonna Tool Co. of Searcy and Mark IV Corp. and Plano Bank & Trust in Plano, Texas. He served as President of United Way in Camden and Searcy, Arkansas and Plano, Texas. Phil started a sheltered workshop in Camden in the 70's for the disabled and has been involved in many charitable organizations over the years. Phil is a member of the Central Arkansas Corvette Club and is a passionate Corvette enthusiast. He cherished the friendship of fellow club members. Phil was retired from the Air National Guard as a Senior Master Sergeant. He won several awards over the years in public speaking and leadership. Phil taught courses at the PMEC-Professional Military Education Center in Knoxville, Tennessee and at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Phil is a member of Antioch Christian Church of Tull where he was an elder and a lay speaker. He dearly loves his brothers and sisters in Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Milton Davis. Phil is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margie Rinehart Davis; one daughter, Malea Oliver (David) of Searcy; one son, Matt Davis (Laura) of Maumelle; four grandchildren, McKenna and Braden Oliver of Searcy and Kameron and Carter Davis of Maumelle, all of whom will cherish his memory forever; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Davis Gillis (Jim) of Dallas and Rita Nickels (Charles) of Arkadelphia; brother-in-law, Keith Rinehart (Joanne) of Hot Springs Village; six nephews and several aunts and cousins. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Ashby Funeral Home, 108 W. Narroway St. in Benton. A celebration of Phil's life will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Ashby Funeral Home. Family Comments: A special thanks to Hospice of Arkansas-caregivers Marilyn, Edwina and multiple R.N.'s-as well as Dr. Thomas Sneed for his excellent care.
