Rachel Faith Glasscock Finley, age 83, passed away in Tyler, Texas on April 4, 2014. She was born in Catoosa County, Georgia on March 5, 1931 to Dewey Gadston Glasscock, Sr. and Nina Bates Glasscock. She graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1948 and Arkansas State Teachers College in 1951. She married the love of her life and best friend, Willis Taylor Finley in 1958. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Through the church she was a member of the Newnham Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. She volunteered with the Pioneers Senior Adults and later joined the group. She belonged to the Longview Newcomers Club and the Oak Crest Women's Club. She worked part time welcoming new residents to Longview and prepared federal income tax returns as a volunteer for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). She also enjoyed researching genealogy with her husband. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Willis: her brother, Dewey Glasscock Jr. of Little Rock, Arkansas: her children, David (Linda) Finley of Plano, Texas and Carol (Jet) Schuler of Tyler, Texas; her grandchildren Kate Finley, Becca Finley, Andrea Schuler and Mary Day Schuler; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Gladys Lancaster and Laura Burgin. Graveside services will be on Friday, April 11, 1 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas. There will be a memorial service at First United Methodist Church in Longview, Texas on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. The family will host a reception immediately following the memorial service.
