Reva Anderson

Dr. Reva Anderson passed away on April 2, 2014, at the Lincoln Community Care Center in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born on September 23, 1949, the daughter of Marguerite Frazier and Elijah Anderson, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from North Little Rock High School and received her B.A. from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. While attending Bowling Green State University in Ohio, she received her M.Ed. in Business Education (1980) and her PH.D. in Educational Administration (1984). Dr. Anderson taught middle school in Tallahassee, Florida. At Florida State University, she served as counselor for a campus ministry program. She taught business education at Bowling Green State University. She edited and published Diversus, an executive diversity publication, and started a commercial printing company in Toledo, Ohio. While serving as a consultant on workforce diversity, she provided coaching on diversity issues to executives in manufacturing, retail, education, nonprofit, public, financial, and multinational organizations through her firm, Support Communications. As founder and CEO of Diversity Leadership Institute in Las Vegas, Nev., she consulted on community development. As founder and executive director of Sista to Sista, she developed educational programs concerning HIV/AIDS issues for women of color. She served as Executive Director of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center in Las Vegas from 1997 to 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronny Anderson. Reva is survived by four sisters and two brothers: Dorothy Taylor, Jacksonville, Ark.; Jenorice Averye, San Diego, Calif.; Linda Ransom (John), Little Rock; Larey Anderson, Ohio; Carlton Anderson (Linda), Dallas, Texas; and Windy Hairston (Michael), Summerville, S.C. Reva and her partner, Angela Lindley, shared their lives for thirty years. Reva's favorite hobbies were fishing and playing craps. She wrote an instructional book on how to play, The Craps Coach: A Guide to Having Fun Playing Craps with a $20 Bankroll.
