Funeral services for the late Earnest Simes will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Helena, Ark. Dr. Reginald Terry, officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 12-4 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel followed by Family Hours at New Light Missionary Baptist Church from 5-8 p.m. Internment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens located in Barton, Ark. Earnest Simes was born in Marvell, AR., to the late LT. SR and Nevader Simes on May 24, 1954. He departed this life on April 10, 2014 at his home. He is preceded in death by his father, LT. Sr., and his brother, Wardell. Earnest was married to Claudine (first wife) and to their union two daughters was born Jessica and Ashley and one son, Earnest Jr. In 1993, Earnest was united in holy matrimony to Loree Allen-Simes and to this union one stepdaughter Kimberly Allen and one stepson Jirmar Allen. Earnest was baptized at an early age by Rev, H.Y. Ward. He became a member of Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jarvis Smith and was a Trustee. He was an active member of the Kappa Alpha PSI, INC. Fraternity. Earnest graduate fro Central High School in 1972 in HWH and attended Quachita Baptist University and received a Bachelor's Degree in education. He returned to West Helena and was hired as a teacher under the leadership of Mrs. Mable Pettis. He went back to college at UCA and received a Master's Degree in administration and became Principal of West Side and then J.F. Whal Elementary. He also received a Specialist Degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and then became the Interim Superintendent of HWH until he retired in 2005. He later started to work at Delta Force 3 until his death. He served on the Quorum Court for over 10 years and chairman of the Finance Committee. Earnest will always be remembered for his acts of kindness and jokingly spirit to everyone he came in contact with. Never failing to lend a helping hand to assist others in hiring or encouraging them to go to college. He believed in Education as your foundation. Earnest leaves to cherish is memories his loving and devoted wife, Loree Allen-Simes; three daughters, Jessica Simes of Little Rock, Ark.; Ashley Simes of West Helena, Ark. and Zelda Perry of Houston, Texas; one son, Earnest Jr. of Little Rock, Ark., his step-children, Kimberly (Kwazi) Payne of Eagle River, Ark.; and Jirmar (Karen) Allen of Raleigh, N.C.; his loving mother, Nevader Simes of West Helena, Ark.; two sisters, Jewel (Bruce) Hamilton, and Zeron (Larry) Evans both of West Helena, Ark.; three brothers, Judge LT (Edelma) Simes, Raymond (Jackie) Simes, and Alvin (Emma) Simes all of West Helena, Ark., cousins,, and friends who will miss him dearly. Earnest had one granddaughter, Trinity Payne of Eagle River, Ark. She loved her some "PawPaw". They loved playing games and to play school. She was always the teacher.
