Doris Marie (Brantner) Maness, 87, of Conway, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was born on Saturday, Feb. 19, 1927 in Red Mud, Texas, to the late Kay Parrack and Pearl Marie (Hoover) Brantner. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Camille Maness; two sisters, Irene Lemley and Joyce Wooten; and her brother, Ralph Brantner. Doris was a founding member of Fellowship Bible Church of Conway. Affectionately known as Miss Doris, she was a faithful member of Women at the Well, a great Bible teacher, prayer warrior, and loved by all who knew her. There was not much Doris wouldn't try. As a young military wife she traveled alone with three small children across the ocean to live in London, England. While living there, she learned to knit. She loved to make things with her hands. She could cross stitch, quilt and made beautiful pieces with hardanger embroidery. All her grandchildren have quilts made by their granny. She often lamented that her two daughters did not share her love of a needle and thread. She really loved her family and there are so many great memories of the times spent together cooking and sharing meals, and laughing. If she ever got tickled, she would laugh so hard she couldn't catch her breath, a trait her daughter shares. Doris faced many challenges in life, but she never complained. Her faith in God sustained her and she was in inspiration to all that knew her. Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Charles Clay Maness of North Little Rock; her daughter, Melissa (Maness) Dean of Conway; four grandchildren, Sara Vint (Mark), Christy Dean, Tyler and Britton Maness; three great-grandchildren, Carly and Caroline Vint and Keaton Maness; brother, Ron Brantner of Allen, Texas; numerous other nieces and nephews, and special friends. She loved them all dearly. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Fellowship Bible Church, 1051 Hogan Lane, Conway with Pastor Ken Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Hills Cemetery in Sherwood. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Operations Christmas Fund at Fellowship Bible Church in Conway. 1051 Hogan Lane, Conway, Ark. 72034.
