Kathryn Carter Sisk

Kathryn Carter Sisk, 95, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, April 24, 2014 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 5, 1918 in Fordyce, daughter of Frank and Iris Virginia Pendergrast Carter. Mrs. Sisk was reared and received her early education in Fordyce. Mrs. Sisk was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. She worked at the Vogue Shop in Jefferson Square for many years and retired from the MaRu at age 81. Mrs. Sisk, Kathryn to her friends, Kate to family and Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved to cook. She always brought home empty dishes from her church pot luck and family reunions. During the Christmas season she spent time in the kitchen making candy and her famous Ambrosia cake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Sisk; and brother, Vaskell (Snooks) Carter. Survivors include three daughters, Iris Poteet and husband, Wendell, of Manila, Arkansas, Beth Turchi and husband, Joe, of White Hall, Arkansas and Susan Grobmyer and husband, John, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; son, Larry Sisk and wife, Nancy, of Knoxville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Angela Buffkin and husband, Mickey, Amanda Dow and husband, Ben and Billy Sisk and wife, Carla; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend W.C. Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
