Darrell Glen Rice, 52, a Fire Fighter in Los Angeles, Calif., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 22. Darrell was the son of Bobby Rice, Little Rock, Ark. and Laura Scoggins Rice, Long Beach, Calif. Darrell was known in his life as not only being a "Thinker", but he was a "Doer' as well and loved by everyone who met him. He was an avid lover of sports and boxing, attending many boxing matches. Along with his passionate commitment to his profession, which he received many honors, Darrell filled many roles in his 52 years of life. He played saxophone in his younger years, which displayed his love for music. Darrell lived a "life of service" only to uplift the people around him. He was a loving husband, a concerned parent, a kindhearted brother to his siblings, a caring uncle, a trustworthy friend and a loyal son to his parents. Darrell had a gift of a loving and contagious spirit and a sense of humor he shared with his friends and family who surrounded him during his transition. Darrell attended Little Rock public schools in his youth. He moved to Los Angeles, Calif. in 1976. He will be sorely missed by his loved ones: wife, Phyllis; daughter, Candace; parents, Bobby Rice and Laura Scoggins Rice; siblings, Pamela Rice, Myra Rice Anderson (Elvin), and Laurie Rice all of Los Angeles, Calif., Valerie Rice Stevens (John), Beverly Rice Hooper, Atlanta, Ga., Ray Rice of Honolulu, Hawaii; nieces; nephews; and a host of other family and friends. Services will be held May 2, 2014, 11:30 a.m., Friendship Baptist Church, 17145 Bastanchury Road, Yoruba Linda, Calif. 92886.
