Tommy Dwight Thompson, age 64, of Benton, was born on August 3, 1949 in Forrest City, Arkansas and went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 2, 2014 which is also the day that he married the love of his life Janice Boyle. They were in Branson celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary when he passed away. Dwight loved his church, serving many years as an Elder of Zion Lutheran Church. He will be remembered by his radiant smile and contagious laughter. His sense of humor always brought light to any situation. He is loved and will be missed by all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Solon J. Thompson and his mother, Cora Bess Nash Henderson. Dwight is survived by his wife, Janice Lynn Boyle Thompson of Benton; three sons, Gary Shane Thompson and wife Renee of Springfield, Missouri, Jeremy Dwight Thompson and Colby Lynn Thompson both of Benton; brother, David Wayne Thompson and wife Samantha of Brinkley and children, Chris & Kristin; sister, Rebecca Beavers of Del Rio, Texas and children, Dale & Ryan; brother-in-law, Bobby Boyle and wife Linda of Helena and daughter, Bethany. Pallbearers will be Chris Thompson, Curtis Nash, Hal Mason, Richard Baker, Dean Nash and Landy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Mason, Dion Nash, Larry Nash, Roger McGraw, Ryan Beavers, Dale Beavers, Bill Nash and the Elders, Tuesday Morning Bible Class & members of Colleen's Sunday School Class all at the Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6 at Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Michael Schleider will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Avilla and the Saline County Humane Society.
