Carthel Barton Parrott, 78, of Heber Springs, passed away Tuesday August 7, 2014. Born September 27, 1935 to the late Barton and Margaruet Noah Barton in Heber Springs, he was a Korean War era veteran of the United States Air Force. Carthel worked construction for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. After retirement he was very active In the American Legion where he held many positions. He also was a former state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and stated the VFW Honor Guard in Heber Springs. Surviving Carthel are his wife, Betty Harris Parrott; children, Carolyn Byrd of Heber Springs, Pam Roberts of Wichita Texas, Jimmy D. Lane of Washington Illinois, Anna Faye Parrott Sayre of Heber Springs, and three step-daughters. Surviving also are his siblings, Jimmy Parrott of Heber Springs, Diana Parrott Jordon of Sherwood, Vida June Parrott Daley of Anchorage Alaska; Nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Carthel is preceded in death by two sisters, Eupha Parrott Turney and Irma Dean Parrott Verser. Visitation will be Thursday August 7, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Family Funeral Service in Heber Springs. Funeral services will be Friday at 10am in the Family Funeral Service Chapel with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Brownsville.
