Nancy Dishongh Gunn Porter

Nancy Dishongh Gunn Porter, of Yancey County, NC traveled to God's Garden on Friday, July 25th, 2014. She was born in Drew County, Ark. to the late Bert and Gladys Henley Dishongh. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lt. Col. Joe B. Dishongh of Austin, Texas and a sister, Dorothy Dishongh Eddy of Little Rock. She is survived by her husband, Duncan Edgar Porter of the home, sister, Sylvia V. Dishongh of Little Rock, her son, H. Leland Gunn, Jr. of Arizona, her daughter, Diana Gunn Burch of Little Rock, her daughter, Elizabeth Gunn of the home, and the father of her children, H. Leland Gunn, Sr. of Little Rock. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Jerrene Martin Dishongh of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth Porter Campbell of Jonesboro and brother-in-law, Talbot Porter of Hensley. Nancy's greatest love was gardening and she was a member of numerous horticultural societies in Arkansas. Nancy and her gardens were often featured on her friend P. Allen Smith's show; he remembers her as "a knowledgeable gardner, with her own beautiful aesthetic and keen sense of style." Nancy was a Career Executive Assistant after studying at Arkansas A&M College. She dedicated the last 24 years of her career to Hall McAdams, beginning at Union National Bank in Little Rock in 1981; following Hall throughout his career until her retirement in 2005. Memorials may be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Little Rock or the charity of your choice.
