Dorothy Marie Whitsell

Dorothy Marie Whitsell, age 89, of Jacksonville entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, August 10, 2014. She was born July 22, 1925 in Greenville, Illinois to the late Eirse Berle Bryant and Fern Ida Blizzard Bryant. She was the top amateur bowler in the U.S. in 1966 and represented the U.S. in the Tournament of the Americas (South America, Latin America, and Canada). She is in the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame. She attended North Hills Baptist Church and will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her children; Kenneth Whitsell-Sherman (Jean) of Anderson, Indiana, Edward B. Whitsell (Frances)of Jacksonville, Ark., Kathryn M. Bell (Dan) of Wichita Falls, Texas, Leslie P. Whitsell (Son Ok) of Wichita Falls, Texas, James A. Whitsell Sr. (Cam) of Las Vegas, Nevada, siblings; Betty Jean Henke of California, Robert Berle Bryant (Peg) of Wyoming, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Woodland Hills Nursing and Rehab of Jacksonville, especially the 300 Hall Nurses and CNAs and Arkansas Hospice. Memorials may be made the American Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org.
