Roger White, 88, of Hamburg, died Sunday August 10, 2014. Mr. White was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II having served in Hawaii, the Philippines, the Marshall Islands, Saipan and Okinawa and was awarded one Battle Star. He was a Mason and a member the Promise Land Masonic Lodge where he served as Secretary for several years and later merged with the Hamburg Masonic Lodge #465. He was a recent recipient of his 50 year pin and the Pillar of Solomon Ward. He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association where he served as Treasurer for several years. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 39 years and he was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church and a former member of the Mist Deer Camp. His preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Floy Stanley White on August 10, 2008; a son, Billy Wayne Harville earlier this year; his parents, Calvin & Carrie Kelley White; seven brothers, Vernon, Roy, Eugene, Harold, Olan, Dewayne & Milton White, four sisters, Bernice Wiggley, Goldie Sivils, Inez Corder and Doradean Smith and a son-in-law, Bruce Swan. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Jenkins and husband, Jeff, and Norma Swan; a daughter-in-law, Ramona Harville all of Hamburg; a sister-in-law, Clellis Stanley of Fountain Hill; nine grandchildren, Phil Harville and wife, Jenny, Crystal Savage and husband, Barry, Lexie & Grayson Harville, Darren Swan and wife, Cathy, Angela Harville, Stacie Kirby and husband, Kevin, Zack & Jake Jenkins; nine great-grandchildren, Courtney Breedlove, Emily Rush, Brayden Harville, Jayden Estelle, Abbie & Bryce Wesson, Brit Swan, Easton Mullinax and Hastin Savage. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Cemetery Association, c/o Mrs. JoAnn Sullivan, 318 Ashley 131 Road, Hamburg, Ark. 71646.
