Charles V. Grassi Sr.

Charles V. Grassi Sr., age 80, of Lake Village, formerly of Crossett, died Sunday, August 17, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born December 10, 1933, in Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Victor Grassi and Stella Alpe Grassi. He was the owner of Pierce-Grassi Lumber Company for years, army veteran, member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, and he was an avid hunter, golfer, and in 2012 was inducted into the University of Arkansas at Monticello Football hall of fame. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Johnny and Joe Grassi. Survivors are his wife, of 56 years, Mary Jane Kennedy Grassi of Lake Village; a son, Charles V. Grassi Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Crossett; two daughters, Monta Kay Robert and husband, Harvey of West Monroe, Charlotte Phillips and husband, Fred of Alix, Arkansas; two sisters, Catherine Haverkamp of Lake Village, and Vicky Clements of Oxford, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Betsy, Shea, Megan, Lexie, and Dougan; and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Paisley, and Jace. Visitation is 6-7 p.m.Tuesday, August 19, 2014 with rosary at 7 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village. Funeral Services 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Theophilus Okpara as Celebrant. Burial will follow around 2 p.m. in Pinewoods Cemetery in Crossett under the direction of Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village, Arkansas.
