Mary Jo Thompson Hunt Armstrong, 90, passed away on August 17, 2014. Jo was born March 28, 1924 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Thomas P. Thompson and Mildred P. Thompson. She grew up in El Dorado, Ark. the oldest of four children. The family moved to Greenville, Miss. where she graduated from high school. In June 1946, she married Murray H. Hunt. They had known each other since first grade and enjoyed 49 years of marriage prior to his death in 1996. She was a longtime resident of Little Rock where she created a wonderful home for her husband and their two children. Jo had many interests and talents that she shared with her husband and passed on to her children and granddaughter. She was a talented seamstress with an eye for selecting the right material and design from which her daughter and grandchild benefited. She completed many personalized needlepoint designs for which she will be remembered. She enjoyed tennis and was particularly enthusiastic about golf. She played golf as often as possible until she was 89 years old and her health declined. She knew most of the golf courses in the state and loved participating in women's tournaments as well playing with her husband. After each round of golf, she could easily relay the details of her scorecard from the course. In 1985, she won the Ladies Golf Championship at the Country Club of Little Rock where she was a member. She had the pleasure and good fortune to be able to say she had made two holes in one during her many years of golfing. In November 2001, Jo married Hubert Armstrong. They had known each other in high school and become reacquainted through a mutual friend after each of their spouses had passed away. During their twelve years of marriage they played golf, enjoyed dancing, and any time they could spend with their families and grandchildren. Jo adored her only grandchild and was delighted when she became a great-grandmother. She took great joy in learning to use technology so that she could receive emails and photos of her great-grandchildren. Guests to her home were always treated to their adventures and the latest pictures. During their recent visit she was the recipient of their loving hugs and kisses. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock. She is survived by her husband, Hubert Armstrong, a son, Murray H. Hunt Jr. and his wife Jackie Ditmars Hunt; a daughter, Martha Kay Hunt Asti and her husband Bill Asti of Little Rock; granddaughter, Lauren Asti Henske and her husband Joe Henske and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Anthony Henske, Jr. and Katherine Anne Henske of Chicago, Ill.
