Mary June Halford, 93, of Lonoke died Saturday, August 16, 2014. Born in Hazen, Arkansas to Grace B. Shetterly and George Lee Nickles, she was the middle child with sisters Helen Nickles and Nadine Modisette. She married Louie Halford and enjoyed a 68 year marriage. She was preceded in death by her infant son, George Nathan, husband and sisters. Survivors include her daughter Louise Bashaw, son-in-law Bill and granddaughters Annie Rose and Belle Brooke, niece Delia Van Duyn, nephew Carl Lee Cash and many loving extended family members. Her long, active life included growing up in Stuttgart and working at the Stuttgart Air Base during WWII where she was nicknamed "Giggles". As a talented seamstress, she also opened a sewing shop with a friend. After marriage she and Louie settled in Lonoke, were active community members and loved to travel. Mary June was a Girl Scout leader for nine years, past president of the Lioness Club and a devoted member of Lonoke FUMC where she was active in the Chi-Alpha Circle of UMW, Ron Goss Sunday School Class, and Altar Guild. Visitation will be Thursday, 6-8 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at Lonoke First United Methodist Church with Committal Service at 2:30 p.m. in Lone Tree Cemetery, Stuttgart.
