Conan Odell Doyle

Bro. Conan Odell Doyle, 90, died on Monday, August 18, 2014, at his residence. Born on June 6, 1924, in Baron, Okla., he was a son of the late William Hardin and Manervia Annettie Spyres Doyle. Bro. Doyle honorably served in the US Army Red 1 Unit as a combat soldier and later as an MP during World War II. He received his Doctorate from Missionary Baptist Institute in Little Rock. He served as the pastor of Bethlehem MB Church for 12 years, Hatley MB Church for 12 years and as pastor of several churches in Arkansas. A very loving and wonderful dad, Bro. Doyle loved to help others. He was passionate about preaching, enjoyed being with other ministers, antiques, building things, and Christian music. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Moore (Terry), Petal; son, William David Doyle (Brenda), Hatley; grandchildren, Renee Moore, Petal, Adam Doyle (Leah), Hatley, Dustin Doyle (Whitney), Starkville; great-grandchildren, Reese and Ava Claire Doyle; a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Merleen Doyle; second wife, Lois Doyle; son, Michael Doyle; sisters, Tennie Weaver (Floyd) and Nita Mooser (Frank); brothers, Raymond Holcomb (Evelyn), Henry Doyle (Dorsalen), and Mike Doyle. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 21 at Hatley Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Sidney McLeod, Bro. Dean Smith, and Bro. Brian Crocker officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Cantrell, Jimmy Dale Boozer, Jerry Russell, Joe Benton, Sammy Lewis and George King. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. He will lie-in-state at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour Thursday.
