Raymond Sweetin Jr., 82, of Stuttgart went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. He was born March 8, 1932, in Tichnor, Ark., to Raymond Sweetin and Mildred Rowland Sweetin. He was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church where served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, faithful on many committees and was a devoted follower of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a 32-degree Mason. He was owner and CEO of R.W. Mfg. Co. and R.W. Farms for 50 years. Raymond was a man totally devoted to family. This extraordinary, giving man never met a stranger, loved his family and spending time hunting at his cabin in North Arkansas and working at his farms. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Sweetin and Wendell Greenhill. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 60 years, Veda Jones Sweetin; sons, Marcus Ray Sweetin of Casscoe, Kevin Wayne Sweetin and wife Shannon of Cabot and Randall Glen Sweetin of Little Rock; his grandchildren, Shane Sweetin (Kim) of Little Rock, Brandi Bono (Bruce) of New Orleans, Joshua Sweetin (Maren) Phoenix, Ariz., Taylor Sweetin of West Memphis, Brooke Taylor of Cabot, Hayden Taylor of Cabot, Hayley Sweetin of Powell, Ohio, Gavin Sweetin of Powell, Ohio, and Madeline Grace, Amelia and Annabelle Sweetin of Hot Springs; four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Mason, Arabella and Brayden; and one sister, Sharon Wheatley of Texarkana. Funeral services, officiated by Dr. Sam Roberts, are 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church at Stuttgart with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. His family requests memorials to First Baptist Church or Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie.
