Wylie Morton Rankin

Former Eudora resident Wylie Morton Rankin, 38, died August 24, 2014 while visiting friends in Sierra Vista, Ariz. Wylie was born on 21 July 1976 in Greenville, Mississippi to Wylie Clifford "Cliff" and Diana Amanda "Mandy" Lee Rankin. A memorial service will be held for Wylie to celebrate his life on 31 August, 2014, 2 p.m. followed by a visitation with the family at the Eudora Baptist Church. As an Eagle Scout, one of Wylie's true passions as a child and young adult was working and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of southern Arkansas and northern Louisiana. Always quick to smile, Wylie worked very hard for the benefit of others within the regional community and his devoted spirit brought motivation to others around him. His time on earth was short, but his good will and genuine warmth influenced many around him to enjoy life more. He is survived by his grandmother Joann Turner Coleman; sister, Amanda Lee Rankin Powers; aunts, Maxie Rebsamen, Angela Collins, Phyllis Craft, Myra Saunders, Lana Parker; uncles, Curt Rankin and Randy Rankin; as well as numerous relatives and friends, including Elaine Wait, Brooks Wait, Michael Pierson and Phoenix Austin. He is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Louisiana Purchase Council where Wylie spent a good part of his life.
