Willie Ruth Lea "Billie" Stephens

Malvern, AR, 1932 - 2014

Willie Ruth Lea "Billie" Stephens, age 82, of Malvern formerly of Kountze, Texas and Pine Bluff, where she lived till 1981, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at CHI St. Vincent in Little Rock. She was born November 1, 1932, in Tulip, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Ira Edward and Annie Eddington "Edna" Green Lea. Billie graduated from Carthage High School in 1950. She married H. Leon Stephens, raised her family in Pine Bluff and was a member of Hawley United Methodist Church. Later, she was a member of Kountze 1st United Methodist Church in Texas and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Malvern. She retired from Mobil Oil Credit Union in Beaumont, Texas. Billie enjoyed bird watching and reading.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy, Reba and Kennith Lea, Aline Jones, Maxine Dorchuck, Juanita Owings; and the father of her children.
Survivors, daughters, Susan Golden (James) of Del Mar, California and Sherri Taylor (Daniel) of Maumelle; brother, Wayne Lea (Virginia) of Malvern; sister, Jo Rood of Malvern; grandchild, Grayson Lea Taylor (Valerie) of Fernley, Nevada; great granddaughters, Adelyn and Reagan Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 6 from 4-6 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home with Brother Dooley Fowler officiating. Burial will be at Tulip Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Senior Companion, Cora Lowe. Memorials can be made to the Tulip Cemetery Fund and Kountze 1st United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
