Aloysius John Wrape, Jr. died on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the age of 90 in Kansas City, Mo. surrounded by his family. Al was born to Aloysius John Wrape, Sr. and Azile Hogan Wrape in Little Rock, Ark., on August 17, 1924. Living most of his life in Little Rock, he graduated from Catholic High School for Boys. He served as a naval officer in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame. He began his working career at his family's business, Wrape Forest Industries. It was God's plan that he met the love of his life, Grace Hiegel. They were married in Conway, Ark., at St. Joseph Catholic Church on April 18, 1949. Grace and Al had eight children. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in April of this year. Al was a devout Catholic and dedicated husband and father. He and Grace were early members of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church. Al was predeceased in death by his parents and one grandchild, Vincent Paul Lee. He is survived by his wife Grace, eight children, Aloysius John Wrape, III (Rita) of Buckeye, Ariz., MaryBeth (Gilbert) Johnson and Regina (Walter) Stephens, both of Fayetteville, Ark., Rosemarie (Greg) Peckham and Theresa (Dennis) Lee, both of Little Rock, Grace (Charles) Barth of Leawood, Kan., Raymond (Patrice) Wrape of Parker, Colo., and Victoria (Greg) Muehlebach of Prairie Village, Kan.; 32 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat Nenon and Ann James, and brothers, William R Wrape II and Jerell Wrape. He will be remembered for his generosity, wit, and boundless heart, love of books, opera, classical music, all outdoor activities, and tireless defender of the faith. The family extends its deep appreciation to all the loving caretakers, nurses and staff of the Kingswood Wellness Center and Grace Hospice Care of Kansas City. A Catholic rosary will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church, with visitation to follow. The funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A memorial Mass will be held in Kansas City at a later date.
