Death, as it must to all men, came to WILLIAM ST. JOHN BURKE BRADY on Dec. 11, 2014. Orphaned in later years, Bill was the first born to the late James Edmund Burke Brady and Marion Inverness Peacock Brady on Sept. 2, 1931 at St. Vincent's Hospital on High Street in Little Rock. He was also preceded in death by his beautiful granddaughter, Haley Christine Beckman. As a youth, Bill achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Attempts to educate him were made at Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school and Catholic High School in Little Rock; Little Rock Junior College; the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (Ll.B/Jd.); by the United States Army (US, not RA); Fayetteville again (Accounting studies); and, on several later occasions, by the English Department at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Bill precedes in death his beloved, but more importantly, much appreciated, admired and understood wife, Mary Ann Corkery Brady, originally of Spokane, Wash.; son, James Mitchell Burke Brady and wife, Ruxandra of Washington, D.C. and their delightful son, Roland; three sisters, Kathryn Brady Ragan, Marilyn Ann Brady Hardman and Cornelia S. Brady; stepchildren, Kelly Isaacson, Carolyn Rentrop, Tommy Isaacson (Kelly) and Donna Beckman; as well as many relatives and cherished friends. When drafted for the Korean War, Bill was assigned to the legal office in Puerto Rico. He returned home at the end of duty and practiced law in Little Rock for over 50 years. Bill was noted for his quick retorts and wonderful sense of humor, as well as his surprisingly new found love of the house kittens. He was a voracious reader from the age of four until his death. In his early career, he was active in Arkansas politics and was a "dyed in the wool" Democrat! Bill also helped establish the Wolfe Street Center and was always available to help others as he had been helped. A celebration of his life is planned at Little Rock Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 3 p.m. As he oft' said on taking leave, "Take Care!" Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), (501)224-2200. Bill's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
