BETTY JO CHAPMAN, 86, of Little Rock passed away Dec. 16, 2014. She was born Aug. 8, 1928 in McGehee, Ark. to the late Elisha and Bessie Smith. After working as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell in McGehee, she lived in Memphis helping support her husband Reuben through dental school. They moved to West Helena, Ark., where she and Reuben raised their family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her humor often brought smiles to those around her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Chapman; siblings, Major, Wade, Alpha and Patsy Smith. Passing with her were daughter, Lisa Minor; grandson, Joshua Minor. Betty Jo is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Alan) Bettis of Bee Branch, Ark. and Carla Jo Chapman of Little Rock, Ark.; grandson, Donald (Samantha) Minor of Penrith, Australia; great-grandchildren, Tamara Memory, Lachlan Minor and Haedrian Minor; brother, Bobby Smith; two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made to the Gideons International. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Arkansas Funeral Care. Funeral to follow at 11 at the funeral home, with Bro. Marvin Pate and Bro. Steve Stephens officiating.
