Dorothy Elizabeth Sawatski

DOROTHY ELIZABETH SAWATSKI, Professor Emeritus of Music at UALR. Born in Little Rock, Sept. 20, 1925 to Nettie Barley and John Thomas Lusk. She was preceded in death by Carl E. Sawatksi, husband, and son, John P. Sawatski. She is survived by one son, Charles David Sawatski; wife, Jennifer; one daughter-in-law, Treva Sawatski; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Stevens and husband, Frank. Memorial service will be held at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church, Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UALR, Dorothy Sawatski Scholarship Fund. She was the founder of UALR programs in voice, opera and musical theatre. During her 50 years of teaching, Professor Sawatski touched the lives of students who have gone on to careers as professional musicians and teachers all over the world.
