Edgar E. Ball, 74, of Arkadelphia, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home. He was born January 11, 1940 in Okolona to Earl and Eula Crawley Ball. Edgar graduated from Okolona High School and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, where he received his embalming and funeral director's license. He was employed at Murry-Ruggles Funeral Home for many years as a funeral director and ambulance driver. Edgar was a member of the Clark County Fair Board, the Clark County Hospital Board, the Selective Service Board and the Southwest Arkansas Food Bank where he served as vice-president. He also served for 23 years on the Quapaw Board of Directors; he was President for eighteen of those years. He was elected Clark County Corner, serving for 24 years. After semi-retirement, he continued to serve the county as a deputy-coroner for several years. He and his family owned and operated Fireplace Fashions in Arkadelphia for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Arkadelphia since 1964, where he served as Elder and Chairman of the Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Sonny Ball. Survivors include two beloved daughters, Sandy Manning (Donny) and Shelia Williams (Larry) all of Arkadelphia; two granddaughters, Kristen Kiernan (Blain) of Bauxite and Madeline Williams of Arkadelphia; and one great-grandson, Jaxon Kiernan of Bauxite. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1st at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with Lay Minister Betty McCommas and Pastor Scott Jackson officiating.
