GREER HERBERT LILE SR. passed away Jan. 20, 2014. He was born in El Dorado on Feb. 21, 1925 to Lillie Faye Lile and F.B. Lile, Sr. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, F.B. (Barry) Lile Jr.; and his much loved wife of 68 years, Mary Manetta Riegler Lile. Greer and Mary had a long happy career together in their photography studio where they photographed quite a few generations of families and many students in the early years of Hall High School. They were active in several photographic associations and they traveled the United States and Canada giving presentations. Our Dad had a special talent for building detailed dioramas that could make the viewer become a part of the varied scene, or era, he captured. After graduating from Little Rock High School, he enlisted in the Army and earned a commission in the United States Army Air Force. He trained as a gunner on the Black Widow precision night-time bomber, but his crew never saw action as World War II came to a close. He achieved the rank of Captain in the service. He is survived by his three children, Chere Payne (A.J.), Greer H. "Skip" Lile, Jr. and Brett H. Lile Sr.; and two grandsons, Brett H. Lile Jr. and Brendan H. Lile. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Maury C. Riegler; and his two sisters-in-law, Emma Louise Lile and Francelle Riegler; and his niece and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to many friends and neighbors who helped Dad through this journey. Our special thanks to Dr. Joel Dworkin; his kindness and caring is beyond measure. And to Briarwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Home and Janet Stallings and her staff at Care IV. To Vickie Smith for her comfort and love. And to Mike Woods and Tracey Carlton who were so devoted. Dad had a special place in his heart for the Carmelite Sisters and memorials may be sent to 7201 W. 32nd St. Little Rock, Ark. 72204. A Celebration of the Lives of our parents, Mary Manetta and Greer Lile will be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock, Ark., (501)224-2200. We were blessed with very special parents and hope you can join us to share memories. Both Mary Manetta's and Greer's online guest books may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
