Mary Katherine Jacob

Mary Katherine Britt Crisp Jacob died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her home in Elaine, Arkansas. Born September 4, 1928 at Helena, Arkansas, she was the daughter of James Lambe Britt and Jeffie Lee St. Clair Britt. She was the widow of Marion Morgan Crisp who died in November, 1984, and of Harold Jacob who died in June 1998. She was reared at her family's plantation home at Snow Lake, Arkansas, was graduated from Elaine High School, and attended Arkansas A&M College, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where her sorority was Phi Sigma Chi. She was a devoted member of Elaine United Methodist Church, serving it in many capacities, and had served as a board member of Phillips County Historical Society. She was a talented needlewoman, and especially enjoyed needlepoint. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Virginia "Cookie" Crisp Flynn and her husband, Jerry Don Flynn, and Patricia Jane Crisp; one granddaughter, Kristin Flynn Allen and her husband, Andrew Boyd Allen; and three great-grandchildren, Drew Gray Allen, Morgan Britt Allen and Anderson Boyd Allen, all of Elaine. She is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Britt Jones and husband, Bob, of Midland, Texas and Jamie Britt Tucker and husband, James, of Elaine. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Helena. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4-6 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Elaine United Methodist Church, or to the charity of your choice.
