BETTY HAGAR SINK, 80, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. She was born June 10, 1933 in Newport to the late Earl Sr. and Ruth Hagar. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, John A. (Buddy) Sink; brothers, Lonnie and Earl Hagar Jr.; and sisters, Lena Williams and Nita Fortune. Betty grew up in Campbell's Station and attended Tuckerman High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. Her love of sports (especially basketball) continued throughout her life. Although she considered caring for her family her most important "job", she worked throughout her life in numerous business ventures. Along with her late husband, she established Betty's Young Fashions in Newport during the ‘60s and ‘70s. Their family business, Sink Supply Company, was a fixture in North Little Rock for over 25 years. She enjoyed using her creative talents at her custom frame shop in Little Rock, The Old Print Center. In her later years, she worked alongside family members at the Arkansas Pediatric Facility in North Little Rock. Left with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her three sons, Mike, Steve (Laura) and Scott Sink of North Little Rock; daughter, Cindy Shelton (Don) of Conway; and sister, Sue Gillihan (Thomas) of Scott. "Bebby" was blessed with seven grandchildren, Kelly Hartwick (Brad) and Erin (Matt) Wells of Conway, Brandon, Matthew, John Mark, Hunter and Lauren Sink of North Little Rock; and five great-grandchildren, Savannah, Sawyer, and Sydney Hartwick, Laurel and Landon Wells of Conway; along with a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 12, 12-2 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Child Fund, 135 Shadow Oaks Dr., Sherwood, Ark. 72120 or the charity of your choice. A special thanks to Dr. Brad Jenkins, the loving caregivers of 1A at Springhill Baptist Hospital, and Gail Felling of Baptist Hospice for their care and support during our mom's brief illness.
