Ambrose Davis (Dave) Bridges, 93 of Benton died on Feb. 8, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was born on May 7, 1920 in Campbell, Mo. Dave was a retired Fire Captain with the Benton Services Center. He served in World War II in the United States Army, (6th Infantry, 1st Armored Division). He enlisted in 1938–1941 and was Honorably Discharged reaching the rank of Sergeant then re-enlisted again in 1941–1945 with an Honorable Discharge reaching the rank of Corporal. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bridges; two sons, Hal Bridges and wife Karen of Sheridan, Ark., Dale Bridges and wife Tammy of Benton; three daughters, Sondra Covert and husband Robert of Dacula, Ga., Lamera (Kim) Wheelbarger and husband Wayne of Hot Springs, Ark., Jennie Standridge and husband Guy of Lonsdale, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; countless friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Dan Bridges; and mother, Ethel Bridges Wilson; his only brother, Lee (Jack) Bridges of Benton. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Springhill Baptist Church, 8602 Springhill Rd, Alexander, Ark. 72002 with Reverend Davey McCool officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Visitation for Mr. Bridges will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Church on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
