Ruth Mae Whillock

Ruth Mae Whillock 92, of Clinton, Ark. passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 in Ozark Health Nursing Center. She was born May 3, 1921 in Choctaw, Ark. to the late W.I. and Minnie (Williams) Shannon. Ruth was an outstanding athlete and captain of her basketball team at Clinton High School. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. Prior to her retiring she worked in several Clinton businesses, Petit Jean Electric, Clinton School District, and Farish Fraser Insurance Agency. She was a life time member of Clinton United Methodist Church. Ruth was an active participant in many of the church's programs. In retirement, she and Jack enjoyed traveling, golf, and their Texas grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished for her open friendliness and quick wit. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 70 years, Jack Whillock; two brothers, Dewell and Troy; and two sisters, Jewell and Willye. She is survived by her son, Jack F. Whillock and wife Mary of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, Kirk, Jay, and Holly; two step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of wonderful close friends. Pallbearers: Reagan McKnight, Tim Whillock, Tom Whillock, Tollie Whillock, Danny Shannon, Scott Whillock, Mark Shannon, John Whillock, and Ken Whillock. Honorary Pallbearers: Jay Whillock, Kirk Whillock, Chip Hunley, Phillip Henderson, Douglas Maulden, Larry Shannon, Dwayne Shannon, Dean McKnight, Ted Whillock, Joe Tom Whillock, Kenny Whillock, and Danny Huie. Visitation will be 10 a.m. and Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at Clinton United Methodist Church with Pastors George Odell and Vaughn Marsden officiating.
