Donald Clark Jordahl, formerly of North Little Rock passed into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 11:36 a.m. in North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He died peacefully, listening to the Vocal Majority sing "You Lift Me Up". All three of his daughters, Judith, Belinda, and Suzette, along with Belinda's and Suzette's husbands, were with him.  Michael, his son, had visited 10 days earlier and was not able to be there, but he called and was able to say goodbye before his dad passed.  A memorial service was held for Don on Saturday, February 15 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. Don was born on August 9, 1929 in Pendleton, Oregon to his Norwegian-American father, Jack and his English-American mother Grace (Clark) Jordahl. He grew up in nearby LaGrande, Oregon where he lived until he graduated from LaGrande High School in 1947. Don was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at the University of Oregon, graduating from there with a BA in Music in 1951. Don served in the Navy for two years and in the Air Force for 27 years, achieving the rank of Colonel before taking a medical retirement in 1983. His Air Force career took him and his family all over the world with 11 different permanent assignments and multiple temporary assignments. He especially enjoyed living and working in Germany and seeing the sights wherever he was assigned. He was assigned to North Little Rock AFB from 1976-79 and then he and his wife Anne retired to North Little Rock in 1983. They were active members of St Luke's Episcopal Church and Don was very involved in the Diamond State Barbershop Chorus. After Anne passed away in their North Little Rock home, Don moved down the street from Michael in Colorado Springs, where he lived until moving into Belinda's home this past November. Don is survived by his four children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Michael & (Nancy) Jordahl of Colorado Springs, Colo. and their sons Daniel, Timothy and Peter; (Bill) & Judith Reed of McKinney, Texas and their children Hannah, Benjamin, Michael and Matthew; (Bill) & Belinda Garcia of Schertz, Texas and their children Rebekah (Kyle) Greenlee (parents of Chase), Jonathan, Melissa and Elizabeth; (Scott) & Suzette Keller of San Antonio and their children Katie (mother of Jason) and Christopher. Don is also survived by his older sister Roberta (Sam) Shorb of LaGrande, Oregon and his younger brother Richard (Marilyn) Jordahl of Gilbert, Ariz.; and also by several nieces and nephews both in England and around the US. He always enjoyed being with any of them. Don will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. We are so glad that his faith in Christ gives us hope that he is whole and full of joy in God's presence. Anyone desiring to make memorial contributions in Don's honor is encouraged to make them to St Michael's Episcopal Church in Colorado Springs (for care of the Columbarium) or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or to local chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
