Evelyn Mayhan Davis

Evelyn Mayhan Davis, age 91, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, February 16, 2014. She was born on August 15, 1922 in Little Rock, the daughter of Leander Mayhan and Hazel Edwards Mayhan. She attended Central High School and Little Rock Junior College. On April 4, 1943, she married Charles William Davis and they lived many years in Park Ridge, Illinois before retiring to Hot Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 17, 2006; her parents; and her sister, Virdelle Witt. Evelyn was a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Charles Lee Davis of Hot Springs; one daughter, Charla Davis Scofield of Fairfield, Connecticut; five grandchildren, Paul Scofield of High Point, North Carolina, Ella Weber of Keene, New Hampshire, Joshua Scofield of New Canaan, Connecticut, Dianna Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Genevieve Davis of Knoxville, Tennessee; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of wonderful friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 in the Thompson Chapel Cemetery, near Amity, with Chaplain David "Doc" Kenser officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday morning at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Paul Scofield, Josh Scofield, Clay Farrar, Steven Kirsch, and P.J. Weber.
