Harold Lee Buchanan

Harold Lee Buchanan, 63, of Topeka, Kansas was born on July 20, 1950 to the union of James Clarence Buchanan and Charlotte Baucom Buchanan in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a 1968 graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Lonoke, Arkansas. Harold accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, Grandview, Missouri. Harold is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He was formerly employed as a machinist for the Kansas City Power and Light Company in Kansas City. Harold departed this life on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Charlotte Buchanan and brothers, James R. Buchanan, Larry Buchanan, Jerry V. Buchanan, Harold L. Buchanan and Odell Buchanan. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children Sean Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska, LaTonya Rasoles of Dallas, Texas and Janet Buchanan of Kansas City, Missouri; brothers, Willis C. Buchanan, Mitchell E. Buchanan, Sanford R. Buchanan and Dwight A. Buchanan; sisters, Jean Buchanan Shavers, Barbara Buchanan Woodson, Marilyn Buchanan Johnson, Phyllis Buchanan and Sonja Buchanan Rowe; eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him. Military burial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 511 Harry Truman Dr., Grandview, Mo.
