Jack T. McDuff

Jack T. McDuff, age 83, of Conway, Arkansas, left this world Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2014. Born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on February 3, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank McDuff and Ruby Douglas McDuff Haight. Jack married the former Elizabeth Ann (Van) Morris on November 22, 1953, in Heber Springs, Arkansas. He graduated from LSU in 1954. Jack was the first instructor of horticulture and landscaping at Petit Jean Vo-Tech in Morrilton. He then became the first grounds maintenance supervisor at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. From there, he became the North Little Rock Parks and Recreation grounds supervisor and then the grounds supervisor for Lakewood Properties, also in North Little Rock. He retired as grounds supervisor for Hendrix College in Conway. Jack was a CARTI volunteer and a master gardener. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his stepfather, William R. Haight and his brother, Charles McDuff. Jack is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann (Van) Morris McDuff of Conway; two daughters, Cynthia McDuff Phillips and Mary Beth McDuff Elms (Richard); one granddaughter, Carmen Phillips; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Kennedi, all of Little Rock; and one brother, Dan McDuff (Genevieve) of Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the 1st United Methodist Church in Conway with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service and burial will be in the Heber Springs Cemetery at 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to the 1st United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or charity of choice.
