John D. Myrick Jr.

John D. Myrick Jr., age 85 of Slidell, La. passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 in Slidell. He was born July 30, 1928 in Monticello, Ark. the son of the late John D. Myrick, Sr. and Novie Lee Worbington Myrick. He was a retired accountant, U. S. Navy Veteran of WWII and of the Baptist Faith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maylene Huff Myrick; one daughter, Deborah Perkins; and one sister, Mary Myrick Ferguson. Survivors include one son, Gary R. Myrick and wife Nancy of Anchorage, Alaska; son-in-law, Bob Perkins of Slidell, La.; five grandchildren, Tracy Roberson, Sandra Zeiler, Gary Ray Myrick Jr., Katie Rowley and Kerri Perkins, sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial in Oakland Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
