William "Billy" Hunter

William A. "Billy" Hunter, age 83, of Lake Village, died Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village. He was born August 17, 1930 at Yellow Bayou Plantation in Lake Village, the son of the late Hugh O. Hunter and Martiel Bell Hunter and was a farmer and rancher, a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and he attended the Dermott Methodist Church. Mr. Hunter was a Delta PCA board member since 1973, a Farm Bureau board member for over 40 years, and was a past board member of Montrose Academy. He also served on many other farming and agricultural boards and was also a 32 degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Jerry Hunter and a sister, Mary Nell Ford. Survivors are his wife, Mary Mildred Hunter of Lake Village; two sons, Mark Hunter of Lake Village and Keith Hunter and wife, Tyra, of Lake Village, a sister, Margaret Allert of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Casey and Cameron Hunter and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bishop Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Holy Innocents Cemetery with Rev. Bart Bynum officiating. Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chicot Memorial Medical Center or Southeast Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Lake Village.
