John Wesley Brown

John Wesley Brown, known as Wesley, 92, of Bryant, died on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born April 8, 1921 to the late John and Burlie Crow Brown. Wesley was an Army Airforce Veteran of World War II and later graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, formerly Arkansas State Teachers College. He did post graduate work at the University of Arkansas. Wesley was a teacher and coach at Fuller High School for five years before accepting a position in Personnel at Reynolds Metals Company, where he worked over thirty years until retirement. Wesley was a resident of Bryant his entire life and was very active in the community. He served on the Bryant Water Commission for over 30 years. Wesley served several terms on the Saline County Board of Adult Education, and continued to serve on the Saline County Equalization Board until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Hiram Brown, sisters, Edna McMoran, Violette Johnson and Dorothy Williams. Survivors, wife, Noma Brown, daughter, Cindy Olafsson of Bryant, brother, Harold Brown of Warren, sister, Doris Weise of Benton, sisters, Willene Deaton of Salem and many nieces, nephews extended family and friends, whom he loved dearly. Church Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bryant United Methodist Church with Bro. Hammett Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander.
