Stephen Ralph Donnor, age 60, of Benton, died Sunday, January 5, 2014 following complications from liver cancer at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. He was born March 8, 1953 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Ralph Donnor and Margaret Campbell Donnor of Benton. Steve was the first of two sons. After graduating from Bauxite High School in 1971, Steve spent a year at the University of Arkansas before joining Alcoa. He retired out of the Alcoa Lab after 33 years. Steve belonged to 1st Christian Church of Benton where he served as a deacon. His church family blended with Steve's extended family, both enjoying his cooking creations at potlucks as a well as holidays. Retirement allowed him to focus on gardening, computer gaming and playing pool between food exploits. His search for the best led him to restaurants scattered all over Central Arkansas and a good discipline of weight training to help with the beltline. Homegrown hot peppers were a signature pleasure of his and his attention to detail produced feasts of Grandma quality. Steve's faith in God illuminated his life after retirement and the loss of his parents. Dear friends led Steve to remember the truth of God's love and the life of grace. Sharing this love with his lost friends became a passion and his mission. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Donnor; a son, Aaron A. Donnor both of Benton from marriage to Linda Tate. Also surviving is one brother, Gary and his wife Sallie Pompe Donnor of Tyrone, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Jonathan and Jarred and one nephew, Zachary. Visitation will be 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, January 9 at Ashby Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 4:30 p.m. Pastor Joe Jorgensen will be officiating.
