Barry Lewis Pipkin

Barry Lewis Pipkin, 59, of Maumelle, Ark. died January 4, 2014. He was born January 17, 1954 to Sidney Leonard Pipkin and Nancy Marshall Pipkin of Memphis, TN. He grew up in Tupelo, MS and graduated from Tupelo High School in 1972. He attended Millsaps College in Jackson and received degrees from Mississippi State University and The University of Southern Mississippi. Barry was employed for 20 years in the Behavioral Health Division of Universal Health Services as Divisional Vice President and most recently as the CEO of The Bridge Way Hospital in North Little Rock. He worked as a clinical psychologist prior to taking on his role in healthcare administration. He was a charter and a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Maumelle, Ark. Barry was an avid lover of sports, nature, gardening, golf, hunting, reading and his beloved Mississippi State Bulldogs. He coached girls and boys soccer and baseball for many years with the Maumelle Parks and Recreation. He devoted his life to helping others and worked tirelessly to make the lives of those struggling with mental illness better. His most valued role was as husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Harrison Pipkin of 39 years, one son, Brian and his wife, Katie, of Little Rock; one daughter, Allison and her husband, Dustin, of Little Rock; three grandchildren: Margot Elizabeth Pipkin, Harrison Gunter Johnson, and Sawyer Bennett Johnson; his mother-in-law, Emma Lee Harrison of Tupelo, Miss.; two sisters, Sharon McCool of Jackson, Miss. and Nancy Claire White of Tupelo, Miss.; two brothers, Bobby Pipkin and Sidney Pipkin, both of Tupelo, Miss.; and numerous other family members and friends. The memorial service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Maumelle, 1201 Edgewood Dr, Maumelle, Ark. 72113, (501) 851-2377.
