Teresa Ann Shempert, 52, of Jonesboro died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital. Teresa was born in Lepanto on December 16, 1961. She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Teresa was very active in the church and loved being involved. She was a member of the choir, AWANA Sparks leader and was involved in the children's ministry at the church. Teresa also loved gardening and decorating. She was preceded in death by her parents who raised her, Alvin and Rena Terrell; her birth parents Elvie Shempert and Mary Harper; sister, Florence Jackson; brother, Jack Shempert. Survivors include her brothers: Ronnie Shempert of Trumann; Melvin and his wife Gloria Shempert of Joiner; Rick and his wife Joy Shempert of Dyess; Charles and his wife Linda Shempert of Blytheville; Sisters: Judy and her husband James Tyler of Jonesboro; Linda Wolfe of Joiner; Patty and her husband Jimmy Hunt of Branson; sister and best friend Gale Peebles of Jonesboro. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Grace Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Adrian Parker and Brother Danny Bradley officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with David Cossey, Wade Eanes, Boyce Bonham, Noel Duncan, Jeff Moody, and Bryan Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Adam and Aaron Hamaker, the Physicians at NEA Baptist Clinic and the Attorneys at the Waddell, Cole & Jones law firm. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Missionary Baptist Church.
