James Robert "Turtle" Rollins

James Robert "Turtle" Rollins, 85, of Searcy, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. He was born on Tuesday, July 10, 1928 in Judsonia, Arkansas to the late Robert E. and Nannie Ida Siler Rollins. Mr. Rollins was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Searcy where he served as an usher for many years. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy enlisting in July of 1945 and serving until August of 1952. He worked for the Arkansas Employment Security Division for 26 years where he was the Area District Manager for 12 years, he retired in December of 1987. He also was a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tony Rollins. Mr. Rollins leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Irma Lee Gaines Rollins of the home; son, Mike Hale (Kathy) of Hot Springs; daughter, Judy Fine (Brady) of Hanceville, Alabama; sister Debbie Pickens Wooten of McRea; step-brother, Lamar Pickens of Alexander; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Searcy with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with Dr. Brian Whitney and Brother David Crouch officiating.
