Leon "Coach" Carson Sr.

LEON "COACH" CARSON SR., 83, of Little Rock departed this life Jan. 9, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bernice Carson; his father, Robert Nunley; and his mother, Laura Gibson Nunley. His loving spirit lives on in his children. Sons: Kim Victor (Sharon) Carson Sr., Kerry Carson Sr., Leon (Catherine) Carson Jr., and Michael (Jo) Carson. Daughters: Leontyne (Michael) Barnett, Robin Howell, and Gilda (Terry) Mac. 17 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He retired from the Little Rock School District. His career as an educator, head football coach and administrator spans over 55 years. He was a Korean War veteran and a retired veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard where he taught at the Arkansas Military Academy. Family Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Premier Funeral Home, 1518 S. Battery St., LR, Ark. A graveside service, 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Avenue, NLR, Ark. Reverend Matthew Garrison, Cathedral of St. Andrew, officiating.
