Sandra Lee Gilliland

Sandra Lee Gilliland, age 53, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville. She was born June 6, 1960 in Long Island, New York to William and Mildred Carter. On July 7, 1979 she married Kyle Gilliland in Jacksonville. Mrs. Gilliland was an LPN for several hospitals in the Little Rock area for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, William Carter in 2006 and her father-in-law, Richard Gilliland in 1998. Mrs. Gilliland was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Jacksonville. She is survived by her husband, Kyle Gilland of Jacksonville; three daughters, Brandi (Kevin) Johnston of Ft. Dix, N.J., Amanda and Melinda Gilliland, both of Jacksonville; mother, Mildred Carter of Jacksonville; mother-in-law, Gail Gilliland of Jacksonville; five siblings, Roberta Bowen of Tempe, Arizona, Patti Witkop of Nemo, South Dakota, William Carter Jr. of Jacksonville, Cynthia Monmaney of Wynne, Arkansas and Michael Carter of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; grandson, Colton Johnston and expected newborn grandson, Liam Kyle Johnston. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Andy Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church. A Rosary will be recited beginning at 7 p.m. after the visitation. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Catholic Church.
