Millie Rea Nalley, age 87, of Benton passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014. It was a beautiful summer day when she went to be with the Lord. She was born Nov. 19, 1926 in Bauxite. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert L. Nalley; her sisters, Geneva Miller and Ellavonne Burks; her brothers, Donald, Dewell, and Clayton Magby; and great-grandson, Orin Garcia. Millie was a Christian of Baptist faith and a member of Mulberry Baptist Church. She loved and served her Lord in many capacities, as a Sunday school and Bible School teacher, and through her love of gospel singing. She was a wonderful singer with a beautiful alto voice. She started out her young married life as a hairdresser and cosmetologist. She later became curator of the Bauxite Museum and later retired from Power Technology. She also served on the Benton City Council as an alderman for three terms. She is survived by her two sisters, Lexie Spickard and Jean Fulcher; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Magby; her daughter, Gwen Kinsey (Coy); her son, Jeff Nalley (Karen); her daughter, Jan Nalley; her grandchildren, Debbie Blankenship, Keisha Baxley, Brett Nalley, Jamie Kitchens, Nalley Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Kinsey Sage, Lauren and Quinn Nalley, and Kinley and Sophia Kitchens. Our mother/grandmother was the grandest of southern women. She was the wonderful, fun loving matriarch of our family, and we are blessed to carry her memory and spirit in everything we do until we meet her again. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday July 7, at Ashby's. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday July 8, 2014 at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Minister will be Dr. Rick Grant. Online guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
