Gid Ronald Branscum

Gid Ronald Branscum, 71, of Jacksonville, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 9, 2014 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Gid was born December 28, 1942 in Mountain View, Arkansas to the late Herby and Clara Branscum. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Sybil Branscum; sons, Lance Branscum, Scott Branscum and wife Shawna, Ron Branscum and wife Deedra; stepson, Stephen Capps and wife Mary; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Herby Branscum and wife Billie Jo and Jerry Branscum; three sisters, Martha Meaier, Ruth Ratchford, and Grace McDerrmott and husband Art. He will also be missed by a host of other family and friends as well as his Bible Baptist Church family. Mr. Branscum retired from the USAF after serving 20 years in numerous locations. He served another 21 years in Civil Service at Little Rock Air Force Base. After his retirement in 2002 he joined the staff of Branscum & Company, Inc. as a Real Estate Broker. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Sabrina Mason. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Bible Baptist Church located at 3301 North First Street, Jacksonville. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Mike Files. The family suggests contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church Missionary Outreach.
