Donald D. Sawyer

Donald D. Sawyer, age 82 of Sherwood passed away Monday, July 21, 2014. He was born April 7, 1932 in Carthage, New York to the late Clarence and Ruth Steele Sawyer. Don married Tai Yokota. He served in the US Air Force for over 24 years. Following his military career, Don became an Ordained Minister for the Assembly of God churches. He was employed for many years with Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, helping to serve families in their time of grief. Don was an avid golfer who loved the game. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Diggins and a brother, Lawrence Sawyer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Tai Sawyer; of three children, Joanne Chambers of Little Rock, Steve Sawyer of North Little Rock, and Ron (Denise) Sawyer of Jacksonville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Sawyer of Jacksonville; sister, Lois Sregzinski of Whitehaven, Florida. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 at First Assembly of God Church with Brother Royce Lowe officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
