John Lawson 68, of Scott, Ark. departed peacefully on July 22, 2014. He retired with 21 years of service from ABF. He leaves to cherish special memories: his wife of 46 years, Opera Lawson; one daughter, Carolyn Brown; sons, Calvin Bailey, Melvin Proctor, Derrick Lawson, John Lawson Jr. and Byron Lawson; father, Harvey (Denota) Brown; sisters, Jacquelyn, Yvonne, Kresandra, Sandra, Vicki, Lisa and Terri; brothers, Anthony, Vincent and Ronald; and a host of other loving relatives.
A celebration of his life will be on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, 11 a.m., at Greater First Pentecostal Church, 5302 Hwy 161, NLR, Ark. Visitation: Thursday, July 31, 2014, 6-7 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S. Chester St. LR (501) 372-1305.
