Sam H. Watts III, 75, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Monday, April 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam H. Watts II, Verda Mae Johnson Watts Brown; and stepfather, Raymond Brown; sister, Donna Brown Washington; brothers, Julian Watts, Bobby Brown; children, Sam H. Watts IV, Darryl Leroy Watts; grandson, Gregory Peterson. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Watts of Los Angeles, Calif.; children, Diana Peterson and Michelle Smith (Larry) of Little Rock, Ark.; Laura Lacy, Linvania Watts, Eric Watts, Marquis Watts, Morgan Watts all of Los Angeles, Calif.; siblings, Danny Brown (Laverne) of San Diego, Calif., Toni Cunningham of Richton Park, Ill., Eva Whitaker, of Decatur, Ga., and Nadean Brown Altheimer of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Memorial service was held Friday, May 2, 2014, at Bethel Chapel Community Church, 5879 S. Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif.
