Terry McDonald Gravenmier

of Little Rock, AR, 1950 - 2014

TERRY MCDONALD GRAVENMIER of Little Rock, Ark. was born Jan. 13, 1950 at Pine Bluff, Ark., the daughter of the late Rommie Gean and Nan Watson McDonald.
Terry graduated from UAMS in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began working at the Veterans Administration Hospital shortly thereafter and retired in 2007 after 30 years of service in such areas as neurology/neurosurgery, general surgery, and PACU/ASU. She was past president and long-time member of the Post Anesthesia Care Nursing Association. Terry had many different interests including marathon walking and running, knitting, singing in the church choir, and participating in Disciple Bible Study. People loved her and her out-going, generous personality.Terry completed 7 marathons with the first being in Dublin, Ireland in 2001; she completed 31 half marathons between 2001 and 2010, traveling to 15 states and Canada. Her last race was the Little Rock Marathon 5k on 3/1/14. 32 of her races were completed after her first surgery for her brain tumor and the last was after her second brain surgery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Quapaw Quarter UMC Feeding Ministries, 1601 South Louisiana, Little Rock 72206; the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock 72210; or to an organization supporting veterans (e.g., Wounded Warriors).
Survivors include her son, Chris Gravenmier of Little Rock; daughter, Lesley Gravenmier Black and husband Chris of Norman, Okla.; sister, Julie McDonald Cabe and husband Bob of Little Rock; numerous other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2014 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, 1601 South Louisiana, in Little Rock.
