Irma Gunhild Rector, 89, of Jacksonville died Sunday, June 1, 2014. She was born August 8, 1924 in Alvsby, Sweden to the late Johan and Olga Johannson Ohlund. She and her family immigrated to the United States on February 5, 1928. She attended Northwestern Bible College, now Northwestern University, and worked as a legal secretary for 40 years. Mrs. Rector played the accordion and piano and was very active in the children's ministry at First Assembly of God in Jacksonville, where she was a member. She and her husband, David, ministered to the residents at Springcreek Living Center in Cabot for 18 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rector was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ronald Goodman and a brother, Rudolph Ohlund. Mrs. Rector is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Rector; her children, Elizabeth Nelson (Richard), Darryl Rector (Sara) and Paul Rector (Gayla); a sister, Elna Kittel; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Jacksonville with Brother Royce Lowe officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park under the direction of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
